  • Language practice opportunities

    Language Café

Practise speaking different languages in a friendly and relaxed environment online in the Virtual Global Lounge with our student volunteers. Whether it is Spanish, French, Italian, German, Japanese, Mandarin, Arabic, English, or any other language, you'll have the chance to improve, teach, and show off your skills!

As an NTU student, you can take part in the Virtual Global Lounge on Tuesdays, 5 pm – 7 pm, and Thursday, 2 pm – 4 pm.

You can also become a Language Café volunteer. If you're fluent in more than one language and are interested in learning and teaching languages, then this is the role for you. We are looking for applicants that can make students feel welcome and prepare topics of conversation to help deliver a language and collect feedback from students. If you'd like to get involved, email and we'll send you more information.

    Language in Tandem

If you would like to practise a language one on one, then we can find you a language exchange partner. We'll pair you up with a native speaker of the language you want to learn. So, for example, if your first language is English and you want to learn Spanish, we'll find a fluent Spanish speaker wanting to improve their English.

You'll arrange to meet for an hour or more every week (this can also be online), and each of you will benefit from at least 30 minutes of language practice.

The scheme is open to all NTU staff and students. Whatever language you speak, at whatever level, sign up today! Please email us at if you have any questions.

  • Global Week at NTU

Global Week is a week-long vibrant festival showcasing Nottingham Trent University’s international community on campus every year.

Throughout the week, the staff and students of NTU, Confetti, and Nottingham Trent International College (NTIC), alongside community partners from Nottingham and beyond — hold a series of stalls and events across campuses.

The annual event is organised to celebrate the vast array of cultures at the university, which is home to approximately 5,200 EU and international students from around 160 different countries.

Through art, dancing, sport, and food, Global Week connects and celebrates the different cultural heritages of the NTU community. It’s a chance for our staff and students to extend their international perspectives and enjoy global experiences right here on campus.

One of our NTU students, Rasha, supported with Global Week, by delivering her own cultural stand to represent Lebanese culture, not once but three years in a row! 500 Internal Server Error
